This gluten and dairy free apple crisp is a delicious and easy dessert, perfect for fall! The best part is that is free of dairy, eggs, wheat/gluten, peanuts and tree nuts!
¼ cup"safe" margarine, softenedsuch as Earth Balance Buttery Spread
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350° F. Place the apples in a large mixing bowl. Combine the sugar, ½ tablespoon flour, and cinnamon in a small bowl. Pour the sugar mixture over the apples and toss to coat. Pour into a 8x8 baking dish. Pour water over apples.
For the topping:
Combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda in a mixing bowl. Add the margarine and, using a fork, cut into the oat mixture until mixture is mealy. Sprinkle topping evenly over the apples.
Bake at 350° F for 30-40 minutes or until bubbly and topping is golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 10-15 minutes. Serve warm with "safe" ice cream if desired.
