Food Allergy Resources

Let's face it, eating with food allergies can seem like a daunting task, especially in the beginning of the learning curve. Following are some of the food allergy resources that I have found to be extremely useful during our journey with food allergies. Check them out!

Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN)
Visit the Website
An organization with nearly 30,000 members worldwide, FAAN's mission is to raise public awareness, to provide advocacy and education, and to advance research in food allergy and anaphylaxis. Membership is a must for the beginner in food allergy management but it is continually helpful to those who have managed food allergies for years. On the website you'll find tips for managing food allergies at home, while traveling, at daycare and at school. You can also read up on the latest research, an important part of FAAN's mission, along with advocacy and education. When you become a member, you receive alerts about undeclared allergens in foods whenever it occurs and a newsletter every other month that includes more of what you find on the website including recipes.

You can also get involved in the food allergy cause by volunteering. FAAN's largest fundraiser is the Walk for Food Allergy. Click here to find out more and get involved.

Kids With Food Allergies
Visit the Website
KFA is a nonprofit food allergy support group that focuses on providing education and support to families and caregivers of children with food allergies. When you become a member, you are given access to a recipe database and various support forums. I personally came across KFA at the beginning of our journey with food allergies and found the forums to be an invaluable resource. Not only do the volunteers and other members there answer questions about everything from allergy testing to cooking quandaries but they'll also just give support when all you need is to vent to others who will understand. The organization's logo reads, "Kids With Food Allergies: A World of Support", and it most definitely is!
